This time of the year QLD experiences its coldest weather of the year, especially at night/early morning & a few chilly winds throughout the day! Saying that, it is generally sunny & warm during the day with little rain.
Don’t let that deter you as there is still plenty to do and this is a great time to get a job & save up for travelling; if you want to travel then North QLD or the Northern Territory are the places to go.
We recommend getting out to the Whitsunday Islands for a truly magical experience, as well as Fraser Island for a lower coast beach/island adventure. An alternative Great Barrier Reef departure point is Port Douglas (Far North) which also doubles us as a beautiful, modern town with a great nightlife. Darwin or the Red Centre offer the better alternative sightseeing & action options.
